At SmileBay, we mainly use the dental microscope for root canal treatments, which require the localisation and cleaning of fine canals that are at times difficult to be identified with the naked eye.

SmileBay utilises the 3Shape TRIOS 3 Intraoral Scanner for optical scanning to obtain a 3D model of the oral. The 3D models can be used in digital smile design simulations, diagnostic aids, prosthesis designs, implant planning and much more. Our patients love the 3Shape just as much as our dentists as they can now visualise their own teeth on a large screen, which allows them to understand the condition of their own teeth a whole lot better.
This all-in-one CAD-CAM (Computer Aided Design and Computer Aided Manufacturing) solution from the world’s largest manufacturer of dental technologies is available at SmileBay. From full jaw digital scanning and AI-assisted designing to CNC machining of porcelain dental prosthesis, CEREC allows us to produce aesthetic and strong porcelain crowns. The CEREC comes in handy for emergency cases or for our travelling patients who might need a new tooth the same day.
Having the smallest scanning tip in its class, the CEREC Omnicam makes for comfortable and stress-free digital scans of patients’ teeth. Taking a digital impression with the CEREC Omnicam is an easy continuous video process, eliminating the need for time-consuming preparations. The CEREC Omnicam is simply guided closely along the teeth for precise 3D images in natural colours.
True to its name, the CEREC SpeedFire sinters porcelain restorations in under 15 minutes compared to conventional ovens that take hours. The CEREC SpeedFire combines the sintering and glazing processes in one device, creating a beautiful shine to the natural-looking restoration.
Designed to make capturing digital impressions faster, easier, and more accurate, the Primescan from Dentsply Sirona is the latest digital impressions system from the maker of the CEREC CAD/CAM System.
Primescan technology employs advanced sensors and shortwave light to capture up to one million 3D points per second. The detailed scan data captured by the Primescan includes all intraoral tissues quickly and accurately, making the scanner ideal for restorative dentistry, orthodontics, implants, and more clinical applications.
Alongside the use of digital scanning and digital software design of dental restorations, SmileBay’s in-house laboratory employs 3D printing technology to complete the whole Digital Dentistry workflow. We are able to print digitally designed appliances, which aids in diagnostics and treatment planning. Most of our 3D printing aid in our crown and bridge fabrication and implant surgical stents for computer guided surgery.
To complete a full digital workflow, our 3Shape intra-oral scanners are integrated with the 3Shape dental design software. Equipped with a full software range, encompassing the TRIOS Design Studio, TRIOS Patient Monitoring, TRIOS Smile Design, Clear Aligner Studio and 3Shape Implant Studio, our 3Shape-powered SmileBay clinics and in-house laboratory are digitally ready to provide patients with comfortable, precise and fast treatments by converting analogue procedures into digital ones. Our Digital Smile Design Feature allows both our dentist and patient to design the perfect smile and create a photorealistic simulation, which will aid in recreating a final smile customised to the patients’ needs and preferences.
CAD/CAM technology ensures excellent fit, aesthetics, and durability of the restorations, saving time for both the dentist and the patient. As a one-stop dental centre, SmileBay houses our very own in-house dental laboratory equipped with the Zirkonzahn CAD-CAM (Computer Aided Design and Computer Aided Manufacturing) system. A wide range of dental prostheses is produced ranging from crowns, bridges, night guards and implant restorations to full mouth zirconia prostheses, with the combination of computer-controlled 5+1 axis milling chambers and integrated computer software.
The implant placement position is essential in determining the success of a surgical implant. In order to place the implant in a precise location surrounded by adequate bone and away from vital structures such as nerves and vessels, SmileBay combines 3D x-ray imaging from our CBCT machines with the intra-oral digital scans from our 3Shape TRIOS in an implant planning software. Our dentists can then plan the most ideal implant position pre- surgery, and 3D print surgical templates to guide the implant into the pre-planned position during surgery.

The KaVo EXPERTsurg LUX Implant Surgical Unit provides high performance and maximum safety. It also operates safely with high precision thanks to one of the world’s lightest and smallest surgical motors.
Using Mectron’s proprietary technology that was revolutionary for bone surgery in 2001, SmileBay aims to ensure top-tier quality and comfort in our surgical procedures. The PIEZOSURGERY Touch delivers precise cutting control and protect soft tissues from damage, allowing us to work with an accuracy that facilitates not only surgery itself, but reduces postoperative discomfort for our patients at the same time.
Created for 30 different soft-tissue surgical procedures, the Gemini Diode Laser allows our dentists to do laser dentistry with a wide range of minimally invasive procedures on soft tissues, including removal of excess and diseased gum tissues, laser gum therapy, frenectomy and exposure of unerupted teeth.
Although our 3D CBCT X-ray machines use low dose radiography, SmileBay follows the ALARA (As Low As Reasonably Achievable) concept as recommended by the International Commissions on Radiological Protection ICRP. This is why every SmileBay branch is equipped with a Panoramic 2D X-Ray Machine, providing a 2D image of the upper and lower jaw. This effectively allows for a comprehensive full mouth image with minimum x-ray dosage. In a 10-second scan, we are able to visualise all the teeth and nerve and sinus positions, as well as detecting pathology such as dental decay, periodontal disease and pathologies of the jaws and temporomandibular joints (TMJ).

All of our SmileBay clinics are equipped with dental intra-oral cameras, a small probe-like camera that can take images of the teeth.
